Critical Problem After Filtering Surgery in Glaucoma: Bleb Leaks

Prof. Dr., Sağlık Bilimleri Üniversitesi, Ankara Şehir Hastanesi, Ankara, Türkiye In trabeculectomy, which is still the most commonly performed glaucoma surgery, the presence of a filtering bleb can cause postoperative early or late onset problems. Although antimetabolite agents, which improve surgical success, are regulated with modifi cations in dosage and administration over time, problems related to bleb remain. In particular, the effects of mitomycin C (MMC) on tissues and bleb morphology increase the susceptibility to leaks. In this article, bleb leaks, which is a very important problem of filtration surgery, approach to the problem and treatment methods will be evaluated in detail.
