Intraocular pressure (IOP) is still the only controllable major risk factor. Antiglaucomatous medical treatment is often used as a fi rst line therapy . The large number of phase 3 studies are carried out to broaden the medical treatment options for glaucoma management in the near future. Researchers have made great steps in both identifying potential treatment targets and creating novel medical delivery systems that may benefi t patients affected by glaucoma in future.
