Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of Intravitreal Bevacizumab Injection (IVB) used for exudative Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) on Ocular Pulse Amplitude (OPA) and Intraocular Pressure (IOP).

Materials and Methods: This study was conducted prospectively. Regardless of lesion type, IVB was applied to choroidal neovascularization secondary to AMD. Thirty-nine eyes of 39 patients and a control group that consisting of opposite untreated 39 eyes were evaluated in the study. IOP was measured using a Goldmann Applanation Tonometer (GAT), IOP and OPA by a Pascal Dynamic Contour Tonometer (DCT) before and after IVB on the first day and in the first and fourth weeks. Measurements taken before and after treatment were statistically compared.

Results: A decrease in values of GAT-IOP after IVB on the first day and in the first week was statistically significant (p<0.05) compared with pre-injection values. A decrease in values of DCT-IOP after IVB on the first day and in the first and fourth weeks was statistically significant (p<0.05) compared with pre-injection values. A decrease in values of DCT-OPA after IVB on the first day and in the first week was statistically significant (p<0.05) compared with pre-injection values.

Conclusion: A significant reduction of OPA in the early period after IVB might be associated with reduction in global choroidal circulation as well as many reasons. Keywords : Exudative age-related macular degeneration, ıntravitreal bevacizumab, ıntraocular pressure, ocular pulse amplitude
