Purpose: To evaluate factors associated with progression of pseudoexfoliative glaucoma (PXG).

Materials and Methods: The records of 72 patients who were treated for PXG between 1998 and 2011 were evaluated retrospectively. Age, visual acuity, intraocular pressure (IOP), visual field index (%), mean deviation (dB), pattern standard deviation (dB), visual field index progression rate (%/year), history of surgery were evaluated.

Results: Seventy two eyes of seventy two patients with PXG were included in this study. The mean age of the patients was 74.26±7.40 years, the mean follow-up was 5.57±3.17 (min-max 2.1-15.3) years. 47 men (%65.27), 25 women (%34.73) were included. The mean IOPs were 22.20±6.37 mmHg and 15.61±2.70 mmHg at the first visit and while on medication, respectively. The mean VFI progression rate was -0.64 [-11.7-(23.2)] %/year. VF1 %94.00 (43-100), VF2 %87.00 (1-100) and MD1 -4.16 [-20.11-(16.70)], MD2 -6.77 [-30.18-(0.93)] and PSD1 3.70 [1.24-(14.70)], PSD2 5.43±3.26 [1.18-(13.10)] were found at first and latest visit, respectively.

Conclusion: In patients with PXG older than seventy years of age, glaucoma progression was found to be faster. When IOP was reduced 30%, glaucoma progression was decreased but continued. Keywords : Pseudoexfoliation, glaucoma, progression
