Iğdır Devlet Hastanesi, Göz Hastalıkları, Iğdır, Uzm. Dr. Eighty-years-old woman who has been experiencing vision decline at her left eye for the last 2 years. Her best-corrected visual acuity was at light perception level. Slitlamp biomicroscopy revealed morgagnian cataract. At the surgery, anterior capsul was stained with 0.1% trypan blue. Liquified cortex was aspirated through the the center of the capsul by a 27 gauge needle. Anterior capsul was found to be collapsed and wrinkled. 3% Na Hyalurinat was applied below the anterior capsul. This procedure normalized the position and tonus of anterior capsul. Capsulorhexis was performed. Corneal incision was enlarged and nucleus was removed. Intraocular lens (IOL) was implanted in sulcus and the corneal incision was sutured by 10.0 nylon suture. The use of intracapsular cohesive viscoelastic matter is found to be an effective and simple method to ensure tonus of anterior capsul and ease capsulorhexis following the liquified cortex draining in Morgagnian cataract cases.
