Lens subluxation was seen in 6 patients. Glaoucoma was found concomitant with cataract in 2 patients. In 72 of the cases nephelions were observed in various levels involving also central cornea. Vitreous was prolaps in the anterior chamber in 2 patients who were operated by phacoemulsification and in 16 patients in whom extra capsular operation was performed. An expulsive hemorrhage has occurred in 1 patient who in extra capsular operation group. There was no intraocular lens (IOL) placement in 4 patients, anterior chamber lens was placed in 15 patients and posterior chamber lens in 235 patients. In 1 month follow up endopthalmy was not diagnosed. Uncorrected vision has improved in all cases except 3.
Discussion: Cataract operation is considered in underdeveloped rural areas only when it was severely diminished visual acuity. Therefore this type of cataract surgery becomes more challenging. Consequently, the methods of operation shifts from phacoemulsification to extra or intra capsular surgery.
