Purpose: We aimed to compare the results of the computerized automated perimetry (CAP) and new generation, high definition Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography (SD- OCT) tests in eyes with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG).

Material and Methods: 35 patients with POAG and 29 healty volunteers were enrolled in this study. Peripapillary retinal nevre fiber layer (RNFL) thickness and perifoveal macular thickness (the distance between internal limiting membrane and ganglion cell complex) was analyzed by SD-OCT (Nidek RS-3000 LITE, Japan). Mean deviation (MD) and patern standard deviation (PSD) values were obtained by using static automatic perimetry (Haag-Streit Diagnosrics Octopus 900, SN 206, V 2.2.0/ 3.2.1 EyeSuiteTM Static perimetry). T-test and Pearson correlation test was used between the dependent and independent variables.

Results: The average age in cases of POAG was 56.82 (±7,60; 41-70), female/ male ratio was 15/20. The average age in control group was 60,86 (±7,51; 45-70), female/ male ratio was 17/12. The mean peripapillary RNFL thickness was measured 106.31±18.05 ?m in POAG group and 110.72±14,23 ?m in control group. Although mean RNFL thickness in eyes with glaucoma is low, it was not statistically significant (p=0.069). Central macular thickness was found 217,99±21,64 ?m and 257,83±22,17 ?m in eyes with glaucoma and control group respectively. Central macular thickness was thin statistically significant in POAG (p<0.001). It was revealed correlation between SD-OCT and CAP in all groups.

Conclusion: If structural and functional tests are considered together, new generation OCT devices contribute more to the diagnosis and monitoring of glaucoma patients. Keywords :
