Phacoemulcification Machine, Working Principles, and Parameters

Cataract is the one of the major causes of treatable blindness. Nowadays, there is no medical treatment method to prevent the development of cataracts and eliminate the opacification in the lens. In the historical process, different approaches for removing the opacified lens have been tried. The standard method of cataract extraction today is phacoemulsification. For the first time in 1967, Dr. Charles D. Kelman defined ultrasound phacoemulsification surgery method. Then, phacoemulsification methods and machines entered in a process of development. This article mentions about main units and working principles of phacoemulsification machine.
