Anterior Segment Imaging Techniques in Glaucoma

Evaluation of anterior segment and angle in glaucoma are important parts of the ophthalmologic examination. For this purpose, the clinicians use the biomicroscopy and gonioscopy frequently. However, these techniques may be insufficient to explain the different mechanisms that trigger the angle closure by disappeared corneal transparency, pathologies of the anterior chamber, the plateau iris configuration. In such clinical cases, informative imaging methods should be considered. In this article slit lamp optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT, SL-OCT), ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM), Pentacam Scheimpflug photography and scanning peripheral anterior chamber depth analyser (SPACDA) which are applied for qualitative and quantitative examination of anterior chamber will be reviewed.
