Purpose: The assessment of the changes in the anterior segment biometry after laser peripheral iridotomy (LPI) applied in narrow angle (NA) eyes via anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT).

Materials and Methods: 54 eyes of 31 patients (17 F, 14 M, 31 to 78 years old ) who had NA applied LPI were studied prospectively in our glaucoma clinic. Preoperative and postoperative, nasal and temporal quadrants angle opening distance (AOD)500-750, trabecüler iris space area (TISA)500-750, scleral spur angle (SSA) and central anterior chamber depth (ACD), intraocular pressure (IOP) and the number of medicines were analysed. The visual acuities (UDVA)(Snellen charts) were evaluated with LogMAR.

Results: In our study, 17 (54.9%) women and 14 (45.1%) male were analyzed. The mean age was 59.78 ± 12.55 years. Distance corrected visual acuity (DCVA) with LogMAR was 1.66±0.32, central cornea thickness was 552.28±47.82. The IOP was decreased from 19.77±8.74 to 16.09±3.38 significantly after the LPI application. Increase in the AS-OCT, AOD 500-750, TISA 500-750, SSA in both nasal and temporal quadrants after LPI; however no difference in ACD was recorded. There wasn't a significant difference in the magnitude of change seen in temporal and nasal angles after the LPI.

Conclusion: In the assessment of narrow eye after the LPI procedure, AS-OCT has valuable findings. Anterior chamber angle enlarges after the LPI procedure. Keywords : Anterior segment optical coherence tomography, laser peripheral iridotomy
