Purpose: In this study we aimed to evaluate the results of iris sutured posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation.

Materials and Methods: Iris sutured posterior chamber intraocular lens surgery was applied in 25 cases due to dislocated intraocular lens to vitreous in 10 cases, subluxated intraocular lens in 7 cases, and aphakia in 8 cases. The complications during and after surgery, intraocular pressure (IOP) changes, and the best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) changes were evaluated.

Results: The cases were followed at least 3 months, average 6.4±3.3 months. According to snellen visual acuity, the mean best corrected visual acuity of preoperative and the last postoperative visit were 0.29±0.25 and 0.53±0.25, respectively. The mean intaocular pressure of preoperative and the last postoperative visit were 16.4±3.4 ve 14.6±3.2 mmHg, respectively. In postoperative period pupil ovalization in four patients, moderate anterior chamber inflamation which was improved with medical treatment in five patients, elevated intraocular pressure which controlled with antiglaucomatous therapy in two patients, corneal edema that was improved in one month in two patients were determined. There was no decentralization or tilt of posterior chamber IOL in any patient.

Conclusions: Iris sutured posterior chamber IOL's have all the advantages of posterior chamber lenses. For this surgery method, long term results and comparative studies with other methods are needed. Keywords : Iris sutured intraocular lens, transscleral sutured intraocular lens, aphakia
