Purpose: We aimed to evaluate the outcome of scleral fixated intraocular lens (IOL) implantation by knotless Z suture technique.

Materials and Methods: A retrospective case series of 23 eyes who had underwent scleral fixated IOL implantation by knotless Z suture technique were examined for demographic findings, pre and post operative best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), IOL santralization and suture related complications.

Results: Twenty three eyes of 21 patients (13 men and 8 women) with surgical indications of lens subluxation/luxation due to trauma, Marfan Syndrome or homosystinuria and post surgical aphakia, were included in this study. Mean age and follow-up was 50.86±17.8 (18-73) years and 8.82±5.44 (4-24) months respectively. The mean final BCVA showed significant improvement from preoperative levels (0.92±0.34 logMAR vs. 0.45±0.31 logMAR, respectively; p<0.01). During early postoperative period 3 eyes showed mild hypotonia only as a complication. Durind follow-up time none of the eyes show IOL desantralization, conjunctival erosion due to scleral sutures or endophthalmia.

Conclusion: Scleral fixated IOL implantation by knotless Z suture technique is a safe and easy method with no risk of conjunctival erosion. Keywords : Scleral fixated IOL implantation, Knotless Z suture
