The Relationship Between Corneal Biomechanical Properties and Optic Nerve Head Parameters in Healthy Subjects

Purpose: To evaluate the relationship between corneal biomechanical properties and parameters of optic nerve head in healthy subjects
Materials and Methods: Forty-six eyes of 46 subjects were enrolled in this study. Central corneal thickness measured with ultrasonic pachymetry, corneal biomechanical properties measured with ocular response analyzer, and optic nerve parameters measured with optic cohorence tomography were obtained from all subjects. The relationship between corneal biomechanical parameters and optic nerve head parameters were evaluated with Pearson's correlation test.
Results: Mean age of 32 female and 14 male was 56.8±9.1 years. No significant relationship was found between corneal biomechanical properties such corneal hysteresis and optic nerve head parameters such as disc area, rim area, rim volume, cup area, cup volume, and cup to disc ratio (p>0.05). Also, there is not significant correlation between CCT and optic nerve head parameters (p>0.05).
Conclusions: The corneal biomechanical properties is not significantly correlated with the optic nerve head parameters in healthy subjects.
