Ocular Ischemic Syndrome in a Case of Totally Occluded Internal Carotid Artery

Ocular ischemic syndrome (OIS) is severe ischemia of the eye, due to chronic vascular perfusion insufficiency. Diabetes mellitus, hypertension, central retinal artery/vein occlusions, uveitis, intraocular tumors, artheritis, carotid or ophthalmic artery pathologies can cause OIS. Main symptoms are periocular pain and vision low. Retinal hemorrhages, iris-retinal neovascularisation and neovascular glaucoma are the most frequently sings. Because of increasing cerebrovascular or cardiovascular riscs, the treatment have not been arranging aimed at ocular damage. In this study, we aimed to present a case who had iris neovascularisation as the first sign of OIS. Keywords : Ocular ischemic syndrome, carotid artery occlusion
